Permit Acquisition Specialist will be responsible for handling all aspects of leasing and zoning wireless sites and driving the site acquisition process from search ring issued through lease and zoning completion.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (include but not limited to):

  • Run reports to ensure that all available permits are in the appropriate status and step in the approval process;
  • Compile permit packet with correct information for each water/sewer project;Submit/acquire/renew permits;
  • Communicate with State/County/Municipality/City to obtain permit approvals according to project schedule;
  • Confers with WSSC design and construction managers, inspectors, other Commission offices and external stakeholders to ensure permits have not expired;
  • Communicate with internal Project Managers and other stakeholders in regards to permit status and approvals;
  • Log received permits and update project folders as instructed;
  • Maintain current information on permitting requirements within various jurisdictions;


  • Perform a variety of sub professional engineering-related duties, technical and administrative tasks, and customer relations responsibilities in support of the WSSC's pipeline projects. Maintains database systems to track all Project permits throughout various stages;
  • Familiar with County/State/Municipality/City and other agencies/utilities permitting procedures for water and sewer construction;
  • Excellent project management, analysis, judgment, coordination and communication skills;
  • Ability to gain full knowledge of the use of existing WSSC Information Systems such as PPIS, CSIS, AIS, MMIS, CMS, GIS, ERISA, online permitting applications, microfilm records or other similar systems outside of WSSC;
  • Ability to gain full knowledge of the use of existing online permitting applications, microfilm records or other similar systems outside of WSSC;
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years of sub-professional engineering or technical experience in reading and interpreting engineering drawings/plans, and related permit or project administration experience;
    5 years of experience in the use of software applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook).


  • Knowledge of government agencies practices and procedures in permitting;
    Experience in the use of agency or utility database/data management permitting systems.
